Technical Abstract Submissions

Presenting your technical abstra​ct at ​the a​nnual meeting benefits your professional development, research, and area of study plus allows you to share your research with experts in the brewing community.​


​Submission Requirements​

  • ​All submissions must r​eport results of original research or other activity of significant merit that relates to brewing and related industries. No abstract that has been presented or is intended to be presented at another meeting shall be submitted for consideration.​
  • Submission must include the following: 
    • Justification
    • Objectives​
    • Methods
    • Results​
  • Abstract text is limited to 475 words. Edit and proof your abstract before submitting. Abstracts should also be proofed to make sure all authors and affiliations were accepted to the online form.  
  • ​Publication of tables, charts, and graphs projected onto screens or posted at the annual meeting by anyone other than an author or presenter is prohibited unless a release has been requested and received in writing from an author or presenter.​
  • All communications will be sent to the​ submitter until the acceptance notifications are sent.  Once accepted all communications will be with the presenting author only. ​​​

Evaluation and Acceptance Notification

  • Members of the ASBC Program Team will evaluate all ASBC designated abstract submissions based on the above submission requirements and inclusion of the required elements. Members of the Master Brewers Technical Committee will evaluate all Master Brewers designated abstract submissions based on the above submission requirements and inclusion of the required elements.​ Accepted submissions will then be designated as an oral or poster presentation and placed in the Technical Session or Poster Session based on the submission keywords. 
  • Final program selections and notifications will be made by early May and acceptance notifications will be delivered via email to all submitters. There are a limited number of slots available for oral presentation; if your submission is not accepted for a technical talk, it will be moved to a poster presentation.
  • Designated presenting author (of either an oral technical or poster) must be registered for Brewing Summit by June 17, 2025. Failure to register will result in your abstract being withdrawn from the meeting.​​


Submission Form Instructions

NOTE: Abstracts dealing with commercial products or services must have a scientific emphasis. Any submissions with promotional intent will not be accepted. 

 

​​​Title 

Titles should be eye-catching but encompass the content of the session. The Planning Teams may recommend changes to your title should your submission proceed through the acceptance process. The title is the first opportunity to interest your audience; keep this in mind. 
 

Abstract

  • Presentation Type ​

    • ​​Select whether your preferred presentation type is an oral presentation or a poster session. 
    • Note: Selecting "Oral Presentation" does not guarantee that your submission will be accepted as an oral presentation. There are a limited number of slots available for oral presentations; if your submission is not accepted for a technical session, it will be moved to the Poster category. 
 
  • Abstract Type 

    • ​​Indicate whether your abstract is a review or an original work.  
 
  • ​​Abstract Text 

    • ​The abstract text is limited to 475 words maximum. The abstract must be in one paragraph (format as a single paragraph). Do not include abstract title, authors, keywords, or references in abstract text. 
    • ​​To submit your text, copy it from your document and paste it into the text box. You may also type directly in the box, and can apply special formatting using the buttons along the top of the box for subscripts (x2), superscripts (x2), etc. 
    • ​​​​Abstract – Original Work 
      • Your abstract MUST include:  
        • ​Establishment of context and significance of your research to the field of brewing science. 
        • Hypothesis or Objective 
        • Methods 
        • Results 
      • Your abstract should mention quantitative data from representative experiments. 
      • Data must represent new findings. 
      • ​Abstracts dealing with commercial products/services must have a scientific emphasis and may not be submitted with promotional intent. 
    • Abstract - Review 
      • Justification of the timeliness of your review (i.e. why is this needed) 
      • ​Establishment of context and significance of your review to the field of brewing science. 

Submission Category

The category selections will help ensure all disciplines within Brewing Summit are covered in the session approval process. The categories will also help meeting attendees browse the content by keywords. Finally, Brewing Summit will strive to use your selections in the following categories to target market members and drive interest in your session.   ​​

    • ​All authors are aware that their names appear on this submission abstract. 
    • The research represented by this abstract has not been accepted for publication in a journal as of the date this abstract was submitted. 
    • If accepted, the presenting author agrees to register for the meeting, and present, in-person, the abstract, in the accepted format, during the scheduled dates and times.​ 
    • The presenting author will keep Brewing Summit informed of any changes to the contact information provided.​ ​

Finalize Submission

Once all submission tasks are complete, be sure to click the button labeled ‘Submit’ at the top of your submission summary screen in order to submit your session. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email, and the session will no longer be labeled incomplete on your submissions page. ​
